Kathmandu: Shawara Tibetan Settlement Office observed a handing-over ceremony between new settlement officer Tenzin Palden and outgoing Settlement Officer Tsering Dolma from 13-31 January 2024.

Karma Gyaltsen, secretary of the Tibetan Refugee Welfare Office, as a representative of the Department of Home, CTA administered the handing-over ceremony between the outgoing and the incoming Settlement Officer.

The ceremony saw the handing over of official documents and stationery on 13 January. From 24-26 January the new and outgoing settlement officers visited the monastery, land and housing belonging to the residents, the apple orchard, restaurants, lodgings, school and settlement office under the jurisdiction of Delekling Tibetan settlement. The official witness and the new and outgoing Settlement Officers addressed the gathering and the residents of the Delekling Tibetan settlement offered traditional white scarves to the outgoing and new settlement officers as a gesture of appreciation on 26 January.

The final-day ceremony concluded with the new and outgoing settlement officers exchanging the official seat in the attendance of the President of the Local Tibetan Freedom Movement and other dignitaries on 31 January.
