Ladakh, 27 July 2026: The Department of Health successfully concluded its Every Mother and Child Care (EMC) Workshop in Jangthang Tibetan Settlement on 27 July 2026. The workshop commenced on 23 July, and was conducted across Tibetan community centers in Leh, Agling, Hanley, and Sumdoh, bringing together new and expecting parents from the region.

The workshop featured informative sessions on antenatal and postnatal care, newborn care, and early childhood development, aimed at enhancing awareness and knowledge on reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health. The sessions were facilitated by Dr. Kelsang Wangdue, Dr. Tenzin Phagdol, and Ms. Tenzin Kalsang , who provided participants with practical guidance and health education. A total of 122 individuals actively participated in the programme, reflecting strong community engagement and interest in maternal and child healthcare.

The Department expressed its appreciation to the participants and local organizers for their cooperation and support. The workshop was made possible through the generous funding support of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (USDOS-SCA).
