Puruwala, Himachal Pradesh: Sakya Tibetan Settlement in Puruwala held a formal handing-over and taking-over ceremony between its new Settlement Officer, Meri Kyab, and outgoing Settlement Officer, Tenzin Namgyal, on 14 July 2026.

During the morning session, the official handover of office documents and inventories took place in the presence of Gelek Jamyang, Tibetan Settlement Officer of Paonta Cholsum, who attended as the official witness on behalf of the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Sakya Dolma Phodrang and Sakya Magon Thubten Namgyaling of the settlement, the President of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, a representative of the Local Tibetan Assembly, and other local dignitaries.

Later in the afternoon, a public gathering was held at the settlement’s community hall. The outgoing Settlement Officer, the incoming Settlement Officer, and the official witness addressed the gathering and briefed attendees on the successful completion of the transfer of responsibilities. Following a vote of thanks delivered by the President of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, the ceremony was officially concluded.
