
Bangalore: On the morning of 10 July, a delegation led by Jigme Tsultrim, Chief Representative Officer (CRO), South Zone, accompanied by Khen Rinpoche Geshe Jigme Gyatso of Gomang Monastery, the Gangjong Opera Troupe, and Tenzin Thakpo of RDTS, visited VET (Vasavi Educational Trust) College. The delegation was warmly received by Dr. R. Parvathi, Principal and Academic Director, Prof. Narayanswamy SG, Vice Principal, Shri Ashok Kumar, faculty members, and Gopi Krishnan from ITFS.
During the programme, Chief Representative Officer Jigme Tsultrim gave a brief overview of the centuries-old ties between Tibet and India. Khen Rinpoche Geshe Jigme Gyatso shared his personal journey of being born in Tibet and receiving his education at Gomang Monastery. He also spoke about the enduring relevance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Four Principal Commitments in the modern world, stressing the importance of developing good character through both words and actions.
The Gangjong Opera Troupe presented a lively cultural performance that highlighted Tibet’s rich artistic traditions, with the Yak Dance drawing particular appreciation.
Tenzin Thakpo of RDTS addressed the students on the growing concern of water mismanagement, encouraging them to use water responsibly and embrace the principles of the three Rs—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. He further urged the students to spread awareness about water conservation within their communities.
Dr. R. Parvathi, Principal and Academic Director of VET College, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing her appreciation to the CRO-led delegation for the meaningful cultural exchange. She also conveyed the college’s willingness to host similar programmes in the future, reinforcing the shared values of cultural exchange, compassion, and sustainability. Before the delegation departed, Shri Manandi N. Suresh, Hon. Secretary, received the delegation in his chamber and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering further engagements to strengthen the longstanding relationship between the institution and the Tibetan community in exile.
