
Ladakh: On 9 April, the Office of the Chief Representative Officer of Ladakh Sonamling Tibetan Settlement observed Agricultural Day, with Shri Mukesh Singh, IPS, DGP Ladakh, attending as the chief guest. On the occasion, the chief guest presented mementos from the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration, to both the former and newly appointed camp leaders. Four Tibetan farmers from the settlement were also honoured with agricultural tools in recognition of their contributions. Tashi Lhadar, a farmer from the settlement, recited a poem related to agriculture for the audience.
In his address, the chief guest praised the democratic governance of the Central Tibetan Administration and noted that elected camp leaders bear the responsibility of caring for their community and addressing their concerns. He also mentioned having met His Holiness the Dalai Lama during one of his visits to Jammu. The Chief Representative Officer of Ladakh, along with the advisory board, announced an agricultural workshop scheduled for 10 April. The programme concluded with a dance performance by the Lhakar dance troupe.
