Kham Kathok, Sataun: The Tibetan Settlement Office of Kham Kathok, in collaboration with the regional Tibetan Co-operative Society, commenced an appreciation ceremony on 24 July 2024. An event was held to express gratitude to the US government for supporting and endorsing the Resolve Tibet Act, which was enacted into law on 12 July 2024. The ceremony coincided with Lhakar (White Wednesday) and was attended by Kham Kathok Tibetan society members.
The Tibetan settlement officer and the president of the local Tibetan Assembly oversaw the event. They presented ceremonial white scarves in front of the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and conducted traditional rituals such as Sangsol. This was succeeded by the presentation of mandalas and other traditional rituals carried out by the leaders and the monks of Khathok Thekchok Namdrolling Nyingma Monastery, with the participation of the residents in offering white scarves.
An official ceremony was marked by traditional rituals and cultural performances. In addition, the settlement officer introduced and elucidated the event’s significance in his public address during the celebration and concluded the event.
