Sataun, Himachal Pradesh: As part of the commemorative programme marking the auspicious occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birth year, the Year of Compassion, a large-scale cleanliness drive was successfully carried out in the Sataun area on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
The initiative was organised under the leadership of the Local Ghoton Organizing Committee of the Kathok Tibetan Settlement in Sataun. Approximately 60 participants, including residents of the settlement and monks from Kathok Nyingma Monastery, actively participated in the campaign.
During the drive, volunteers undertook comprehensive cleaning of the main roads and pedestrian pathways across the Sataun area. Special attention was given to the removal of long-accumulated waste and old garbage piles, ensuring a thorough and systematic clean-up of the locality.
The initiative not only enhanced the cleanliness and overall appearance of the area but also helped raise awareness among the public regarding the importance of environmental responsibility and community participation in maintaining sanitation. The effort was appreciated by members of the local Indian community.
