
Karma Lodoe Sangpo Assumes Role of Tibetan Settlement Officer in Odisha.
Odisha: From 29 April to 1 May 2025, the official handover ceremony marking the transition of the Tibetan Settlement Officer post from Khenpo Pema Tenphel to Karma Lodoe Sangpo was successfully carried out. The event, held under the supervision of the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration, was attended by representatives from both governmental and non-governmental organisations, community leaders, and members of the general public, officially inaugurating Sangpo’s tenure as Settlement Officer.
Following the ceremony, the outgoing and incoming officers addressed the public on 30 April 2025. The day continued with official visits to key institutions within the settlement, including schools, monasteries, the Old People’s Home, Kailash Hostel, and the offices of the respective camps, reflecting the administration’s commitment to community engagement and welfare.
On 1 May 2025, Settlement Officer Karma Lodoe Sangpo, accompanied by the outgoing officer, the Chairman of the Local Tibetan Assembly, the President and secretaries of the Multi-Purpose Tibetan Cooperative Society (MTCS), paid courtesy calls to prominent district officials. The delegation met with District Magistrate of Gajapati, Sri Bijay Kumar Dash; Additional District Magistrate, Falguni Majhi; Superintendent of Police, Jatindra Kumar Panda; Deputy Intelligence Bureau, Thakur Das Murmu; and Chief Development Officer, Shankar Kerketta. These visits underscored the importance of maintaining strong relations between the Tibetan settlement and local authorities for the continued welfare and development of the community.
