Tokyo: Kalon Norzin Dolma of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) visited the Chiba Institute of Technology, where she was warmly received by Chairman Setokuma Osamu and the Board members. Kalon Norzin Dolma thanked the University for the warm welcome and for sponsoring the education of many young Tibetans at the University.
Kalon Norzin Dolma delivered a talk on “Tibet and the International Community” to an audience of some two hundred people comprising the Board members, faculties, and students of the University. Kalon briefed the audience on the history of Tibet, how communist China invaded, and how Tibetans are still struggling for freedom and justice in and outside Tibet. She talked about human rights violations and suppression of religious freedom and how the Central Tibetan Administration is trying to resolve the Tibet issue through dialog and the Middle Way Approach.
Chairman Setokuma Osamu and the board members thanked Kalon for visiting the University and for the brief lecture on Tibet. The University hosted a lunch reception on the campus and Setokuma expressed great respect for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his teachings and wished His Holiness a long and healthy life.
Kalon met with nine Tibetan students who are studying at the University and interacted with them and reminded them of the purpose of their education in Japan. She told them they are all unofficial ambassadors of the Tibetan community and they should study hard to be able to contribute back to the community and enrich Tibetan human resources in Japanese studies.
In the afternoon, Kalon Norzin Dolma paid a visit to the Reitaku University’s Institute of Moralogy. Hiroike Mototaka and the faculty members received Kalon Norzin Dolma and expressed great pleasure in meeting her. Hiroike explained the history of the University and how it has contributed to maintaining a high level of Japanese spirit and morals since its inception. He expressed his joy in being able to do something to help His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan community.
Kalon Norzin Dolma thanked the Chairman and the faculty members for their support and guidance. Kalon toured the campus where she saw the museum showing how the University was founded and the people associated with it. She visited the library and discussed with the librarian about an old manuscript on population census.
Dorjee Wangchuk and Tenzin Woesyel, both CTA staff, who are studying the Japanese language at the University greeted and updated Kalon on their education. Representative Dr. Arya Tsewang Gyalpo and Secretary Tashi Yangzom accompanied Kalon to the Universities.
Kalon Norzin Dolma will give a press conference and release a book “Chibeto no Hanno” today at the Shinjuku Bunka Center. She will participate in and address the Mongol-Tibet Cultural and Religious Symposium at Tokyo University tomorrow.
