Dharamshala: Following the official announcement of Chief Justice Commissioner Sonam Norbu Dagpo’s retirement on 15 November 2021 after a 40 year-long service in various roles and positions within the exile Tibetan community, Justice Commissioner Karma Dadul is appointed pro-tem Chief Justice Commissioner as per the Code of Judiciary’s Section 15 under the article 67 ‘Judicial code and code of judicial procedure of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission. According to the judicial procedure, the pro-tem CJC will be assumed by one of two Justice Commissioners whoever has higher years of service. Hence, Justice Commissioner Karma Dadul will take charge as the Acting Chief Justice Commissioner effective from 15 November 2021.
Mr Sonam Norbu Dagpo was elected as the Chief Justice Commissioner of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission during the eighth session of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. He took charge of the position for almost two years and a month since taking the oath of office from then retiring Chief Justice Commissioner Kargyu Dhondup on 15 October 2019.
Justice Commissioner Karma Dadul was elected as one of the two other Justice Commissioners of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission on 19 September 2018 during the sixth session of the 16th TPiE. He was then sworn in for the position on 1 October 2018.
