
New Delhi, 12 October 2025: The Joint Meeting of the Core Group for the Tibetan Cause, India (CGTC-I) and the Presidents of Tibetan Support Groups (TSGs) in India commenced at the Conference Hall, Amara Hotel, Greater Kailash, New Delhi, with a total of 29 esteemed participants in attendance.
The meeting opened with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp and the offering of flowers to the portraits of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and Mahatma Gandhiji, followed by the singing of the Indian and Tibetan national anthems, symbolising unity, peace, and shared values between India and Tibet.
Following the inaugural ceremony, the participants briefly introduced themselves by mentioning their names, the name of their respective Tibet Support Groups, and their regions of representation. This was followed by a welcome address delivered by Tashi Dekyi, Coordinator, India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO), New Delhi, who warmly welcomed all the members of TSG India and the Core Group for Tibetan Cause, India (CGTC-I). She also presented an overview of the meeting agenda.
In his introductory address, Shri R.K. Khrimey, National Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India (CGTC-I), spoke on the background and purpose of the Joint Meeting, i.e., Offering of Long-Life Prayer to H.H. the 14 Dalai Lama. He elaborated on the challenges, opportunities, and the way forward, emphasising the need for unity, effective coordination, and renewed commitment to strengthen India’s moral and political support for the cause of Tibet.
This was followed by an address from Shri Jigme Jungney, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who explained in detail the significance and cultural practice of offering a Long Life Prayer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. He shared insights on the religious and ritual aspects of the ceremony, including the mandatory offerings, the basic budget estimation, and the tentative timeframe for organising such an event.
Shri Dr Indresh Kumar, Senior Pracharak and National Executive Member of the RSS, delivered the keynote address. He reaffirmed the deep historical, spiritual, and cultural ties between India and Tibet, emphasising that India’s support of Tibet should be projected on the global stage. He noted that the present initiative provides an important opportunity to propagate this message of solidarity internationally. After the keynote, participants unanimously approved the main proposal and agenda, including the organisation of a Long-Life Prayer Offering to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
The joint meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Migmar Tsamchoe, Deputy Coordinator, ITCO, New Delhi, thanking each participant of the Joint Meeting for attending and engaging actively in discussing the agendas of the Day, as well as expressing deep support and contribution. The meeting concluded with a sense of collective commitment and optimism among all participants to ensure the successful organisation of the Long Life Prayer Offering to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Members reaffirmed their dedication to further strengthening India’s continued moral, cultural, and spiritual support to the cause of Tibet.
