Moscow, Russia: Over 1000 people were gathered at capital of the Russian Federation, Moscow and the Buddhist Republics across the Russian Federation to commemorate the 88th birthday of Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The event was organised by Tibet Culture and Information center (Office of Tibet) and Save tibet Foundation and attended by various members of society such as former diplomats, Members of Parliaments, scholars and buddhist and non Buddhist.
At the event, a film titled “The Tukdham Protocol”, directed by igor Yangchoglov and produced by Save Tibet foundation was presented to the public for the first time. The film depicts the beginning of a project to study mediation and altered states of consciousness, which under the leadership of academician Svyatoslav Medevdev, with the participation of Prof Alexander Kaplan and the tireless support of H.H. the Dalai Lama since 2019. The study and research has been successfully carried in the Monasteries of India and Nepal. A new book compiled by Elena Kokurina was presented to the public titled “Tibetan Sunsets in search of subtle consciousness’ also a new collection of “The Nature of Consciousness: Conversations of the Dalai Lama with Russian Scientist” Published by save Tibet Foundation which are materials of the conference of the same name. It was the largest gathering since the pandemic has hit the celebration of H.H. the Dalai Lama’s Birthday was interrupted for several years. H.H. birthday is the largest gathering in moscow since 2015.
In Kalmyk Republic, the Central monastery gathered in the Morning to offer “Sangsol” prayers for the occasion and in the evening the public gathered at Park “Druzhba” to celebrate H.H. birthday with a concert and distribution of cakes to the Public. It was well attended by the public and it is also one of the biggest celebration of the Republic.
In Buryatia, the Local Tibetan community gathered at the recite prayers off long life and do a “sangsol’ offerings dedicated to H.H. long life.
In the newly opened Central Buddhist Monastery in Tuva Republic the public gathered at Thupten Shedupling Monastery which was named by H.H. to make prayers for the long life of H.H. and offering of the “Khata’ to H.H. portrait.
In Ulanbaatar, the Monastic community and Beleivers gathered at Gandaan Tara Temple within the Grand “BaatTsagan’ assembly hall. Khambo lama Nomin Khan, Ven. ChoGyamts spoke of the greats deeds and the impact H.H. has made in the spiritual and social life of Mongolia. Honorary representative of H.H. the Dalai Lama to Russia, Mongolia and CiS countries, tell Tulku Rinpoche spoke to the gathering by sharing his gratitude to H.H. on behalf of Mongolians, Kalmyks, Tuvans and Buryats for providing the opportunity to study at various monastery and institutions in India. Telo Tulku Rinpoche elaborated the awards, achievements, and contributions H.H. had made globally no only as Buddhist leader but as a visionary as well.
His speech was followed by Naro Panchen Hutughtu. The monks chanted the offering of the “Mandala” and prayers for the long life of H.H. the Dalai Lama. At the end of the official ceremony, the local Tibetans distributed cakes to the monastic community and public.
Geshe Tenzin Namdak from Sera Jey Monastery performed “Tsetar”,ceremony by releasing of animals as a symbolization of extending ones life in honor of prolonging His Holiness’ life and Oser Rinpoche led nomads celebrated the event in a traditional “Ger”, traditional nomadic living tent.
The Celebration of H.H. the Dalai Lama’s Birthday in Russia and Mongolia has become one of the largest celebrations among many other holidays amongst the Buddhist and the admiration for H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama continues to grow annually.
