
Paris: The French Senate Tibet Support Group, officially known as Groupe D’Information Internationale sur le Tibet au Sénat, and elected Madam EUSTACHE-BRINIO Jacqueline, President of the group formally hosted Thupten Gyatso, Member of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Karma Thinlay, President of Tibetan Community, Yangkyi Dolker, Secretary of Tibetan Community and Namgyal Samdup, Secretary of Bureau du Tibet over a working breakfast at Senate to introduce new members of the group. The French Senate Tibet Support Group was reformed in November last year.
The meeting held earlier today was led by the Group President Senator Madam EUSTACHE-BRINO Jacqueline and the President of Tibet Support Group at French National Assembly, deputy Madam TOUTUT-PICARD Elisabeth and Senator Madam GARRIAUD-MALYAM Joëlle, Senator Madam JACQUEMET Annick, Senator Madam ELSE Joseph, Senator Madam PRÉVILLE Angèle joined the meeting.
Mr. Thupten Gyatso briefed on the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, CTA’s Middle Way Policy, the critical human rights situation in Tibet, and other important issues including Tibet’s environment and water resources.
Mr. Karma Thinlay expounded on the objective of Association The Tibetan Community in France, the evolution of the Tibetan population and the program towards preserving Tibetan language and culture. Concerning the ongoing weekend schools in Paris, Ms. Yangkyi Dolker discussed the scope of expanding such schools in other parts of Paris.
Mr. Namgyal Samdup thanked Madam EUSTACHE-BRINIO Jacqueline for her leadership in reforming the group, which was resolved in Sept last year and thanked other members for joining the group. He apprised them of the inception of the Office of Tibet, Paris, in 1993 with the kind support of then-mayor of Paris late Mr. Jacques Chirac and the objectives of the OOT.
As a token of appreciation, the Bureau du Tibet and the Tibetan Community offered the group traditional Tibetan scarves, Khatak and a book “A report of the 7th World Parliamentarians Convention on Tibet at Riga”.
