São Paulo: For more than a month, the Tibet House Brasil held an exhibition showcasing the creation of a sacred Tibetan Buddhist sand mandala across three Latin American countries. The exhibition was elaborated by Lama Losang Samten with the aim to promote world peace.
Between 11 and 20 March 2023, Lama Losang Samten created and dispersed the medicine Buddha mandala at the Kagyu Tekchen Chöling, a Buddhist centre associated with Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD). In the following five days, he created the mandala in Bogota and Yamantaka Centro de Meditacion Budista.
From 28-31 March, the sand mandala of Manjhushiri was exhibited in Brazil at Shiwa Lha Center (Shantideva) and from 2-4 April in Cabreúva and at the headquarters of Tibet House Brasil which was attended by Soninha Francine, Municipal Secretary of Human Rights and Citizenship of São Paulo. Many practitioners and supporters of Tibetan Buddhism and culture visited the Tibet House to witness the elaborate creation of the sand mandala.
On 8 April, the concluding event of the exhibition was held in the presence of Chirs Monterio, Councilor of the Capital of Sao Paulo. She has dedicated her service to causes related to education and innovation and ethics in public administration that have benefitted about 5 million students in Brasil. The event also had the presence of Tsewang Phuntso, former Director and Representative of the His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Latin America, who for the last four years has been providing services to the promotion of Tibetan culture and Buddhism in Brasil.
Representative Jigme Tsering addressed the gathering explaining programs and tasks fulfilled by THB in the preservation of Tibetan culture.
