
Dharamshala: The Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) hosted a special interactive luncheon cum Press conference for Tibetan and local Indian journalists from various media house this afternoon at The Kunal Hotel and Restaurant (HPTDC).
Kicking off first with the Press conference, Media Coordinator of Central Ghoton Organising Committee, Additional Secretary Tenzin Lekshay from the DIIR formally announced this year’s three day Tibetan Cultural Festival which will be held from 28 to 30 May at the Police ground, Dharamshala, co-organised by the Central Tibetan Administration and Tibetan Settlement Office of Dharamshala.
Tenzin Lekshay announced that the festival is dedicated to celebrating His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birth year and his over 60 years of residence in Dharamshala, which he lovingly regards as his home in exile. The event highlights and fosters the enduring friendship between Tibetans and their benevolent Indian brothers and sisters.
The three-day festival will celebrate Tibetan culture through a variety of activities, including displays from Tibetan institutes in Dharamshala, free consultations from Men-tsee-khang, a screening of a films about His Holiness the Dalai Lama, performances of traditional Tibetan dance and song, a children’s corner, food stalls, and information booths.
The brief press conference was followed by an interactive Q&A session with Tibetan and local Indian journalists, who inquired about the guest lists of the swearing-in ceremony for Sikyong Penpa Tsering’s second term and the various programmes planned for this year’s festival.
The luncheon was attended by DIIR Additional Secretaries Tenzin Lekshay, the Official Spokesperson of the CTA, and Namgyal Tsewang, the Bureau Chief of the Tibet News Bureau (CTA). Around 52 journalists from various media houses participated in the event, including representatives from 4 Star News, Aaj Tak, Amar Ujala, ANI, Anant Gyan, C 35 Films, Dainik Bhaskar, Dainik Jagran, DDNews, Enoxx News, India News TV, Khabrain Abhi Tak, Live Time TV, MH One News, Phayul News, PTI News, Sidhivinayak Times, Tibet Express, Tibet News Bureau, Tibet Post International, Tibet Radio, Tibet Times, Voice of Tibet and Zee News.
The Press conference cum Luncheon is organised by the Department of Information and International Relations to foster interaction and collaboration between media personnel from Tibetan and local Indian news organisations as part of the Ghoton initiative for Year of Compassion.
