Bylakuppe (Karnataka), 26 December 2025: The Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has successfully concluded a series of Middle Way Policy (Tib: Umaylam) Awareness Talks in South India from 23–25 December 2025, reaching both monastic communities and Tibetan public. These talk series were held following the conclusion of the two-day workshop on Middle Way Policy conducted for more than 30 Tibetan university students held from 19 to 21 December 2025 at the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education in Bengaluru.
Led by Tenzin Lekshay, Additional Secretary and the official spokesperson of CTA, the program aimed to deepen understanding of the Middle Way Policy — the CTA’s official approach for resolving the Sino-Tibet Conflict by seeking genuine autonomy for the Tibetan people through peaceful dialogue rather than separation.
On 23 December, the Umaylam Awareness talk was held in Hunsur Rabgayling Tibetan settlement. In the morning, over 150 monks attended at the talk held in Gyumed Tantric Monastery, followed by a session at the Dzongkar Choede Monastery, which drew around 100 monks. The Gyumed talk was graced by the monastery Abbot, Khen Rinpoche. In the afternoon, with the assistance of the Settlement officer, an awareness talk was held in the settlement auditorium attended by about 150 Tibetan public.
The outreach continued in Bylakuppe from 24–25 December with talks held at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery (The talk was graced by the monastery Abbot, Khen Rinpoche) and Sera Mey Monastery, drawing nearly 250 monks combined. On 25 December, an awareness talk was held for the Tibetan public from Lugsum Samdupling and Dekyi Larsoe settlements, which drew about 250 attendees. The Awareness talk series concluded at Sera Jey Monastery, where about 300 monks attended the event. Throughout the talks, Additional Secretary Lekshay actively engaged with the audiences and provided thoughtful answers to questions, encouraged unity and informed advocacy in support of the Middle Way Policy.
The DIIR conducts similar awareness initiatives every year to strengthen political understanding and community engagement among Tibetan diasporas populations across India.
