
Dharamshala: The Tibetan Settlement Office and the Local Tibetan Assembly jointly organised a talk session on promoting Kindness and Compassion at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh as part of the programmes to observe the Year of Compassion and to mark the 90th birth year of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The programme was graced by Shri Pradeep Kumar, Dean (Academic), along with fifteen professors and more than two hundred students who gathered in the university auditorium.
The event began with a welcome speech by the Tibetan Settlement Officer, who introduced the Year of Compassion and expressed gratitude to the Government of India and the people of India, particularly the state and people of Himachal Pradesh. In his address, he also emphasised the importance of peace, love, and compassion in today’s world.
Following this, the Tibetan Settlement Officer and a representative of the Local Tibetan Assembly presented His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s book “Voice for the Voiceless” to the Chief Guest and faculty members.
The keynote talk on Kindness and Compassion was delivered by Khen Rinpoche, the Abbot of Geden Choeling Nunnery. The Chief Guest also addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of the Tibet–India relationship and sharing his personal experience of an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, distribution of sweets to all attendees, and a group photograph.
