Paonta: The Department of Home, CTA, commences three-day (from 21 to 23 February 2024) household listing survey training for enumerators of Sirmour district and Doon settlements earlier today with an inaugural ceremony at Conference hall of Paonta Cholsum Settlement.
Following the ceremonial lighting of a butter lamp and singing of the Tibetan national anthem, the chief guest of the event, Paonta Cholsum Settlement Officer Gelek Jamyang, delivered a keynote address. He introduced the household survey program and highlighted the significance of the survey in ensuring a better understanding of the Tibetan community in exile. He further underscored the collective role of the enumerators and the survey participants in achieving success of the survey. The enumerators were urged to maintain a calm disposition when conducting the filed survey in order to avoid any conflict or misunderstanding and also to ensure as much participation from the public as well.
The program followed with a brief introduction of all the participants to foster a more interactive learning session. It was followed by the screening of a virtual address of the Home Secretary on the importance of the household listing survey before the gathering.
A total of 22 enumerators from 8 different Tibetan settlements attended the training’s inaugural, along with representatives from each settlement office. The resource persons for the training include Dr Lobsang, Saikat Ghosh and Kshijit Pal. The training aims to educate and equip the enumerators for the upcoming household survey, which will aid in the planning and formulation of projects by the CTA for the overall development and progress of the Tibetan community in India and Nepal.
The representative from Department of Home concluded the inaugural ceremony with a vote of thanks to the donors and Paonta settlement office, as well as all the individuals who have contributed in the realisation of this training program.
