
Salugara: The Department of Finance, Central Tibetan Administration conducted a series of workshops for the newly elected members of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement at Salugara and Gangtok from 25 to 31 July 2024.
The inaugural workshop was conducted from 25 to 26 July at the Sed-Gyuded Monastery Hall in Salugara, West Bengal. This session was aimed for newly elected members of the 11 Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, including those from Nepal and Salugara. A total of 19 participants attended, comprising 3 female and 16 male members. The workshop commenced with a keynote address by Kalimpong Settlement Officer Tseten. Over the course of two-day workshop, Pema Dechen, Section Head of the Data Unit, conducted training on the procedures for issuing, correcting, and reissuing Green Books. Additionally, Kunsang Namgyal from the Chatrel Section covered key regulations related to CTA’s revenue generation, budgeting, and auditing.
The follow-up workshop was held on 30 and 31 July at Hotel Tibet in Gangtok. This session targeted newly elected members of the 12 Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, including those from the North East region and Bhutan. A total of 25 participants, including 6 female and 19 male members, attended. Gangtok Settlement Officer Kunga Sangpo delivered the keynote address during the opening ceremony of the workshop. The training focused on topics similar to those in the Salugara workshop, emphasising Green Book procedures and financial regulations relevant to the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement.
These workshops are part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive training to new members across all sections of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement. The programs are supported by the American people through USAID and NDI, reflecting continued international support for the Tibetan cause.
