
Dehradun: As part of the celebrations marking the 90th Birth Anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the Dehradun Ghoton Committee conducted life-release activities on 31 May 2026, an auspicious day in the Tibetan calendar. A total of ₹150,000 was spent on this noble initiative, which was carried out by various committee groups.
The groups released 340 kg of fish of various sizes and freed more than 664 small birds. In addition, 10 sheep and goats were purchased and released at Jangthang, Ladakh.
Local Tibetans from the respective settlements generously extended their support and contributed for this noble cause of saving and protecting animal lives. This meaningful act reflected the values of compassion and kindness taught by His Holiness and served as a heartfelt tribute to his 90th Birth Anniversary.
