Dharamshala: The Central Tibetan Administration observed a prayer service to mourn the demise of the longest-serving Tibetan political prisoner, Takna Jigme Sangpo who passed away on October 17 in Turbenthal, Switzerland.
The prayer service was held by all the CTA offices in adherence to the standing COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Government of India.
Earlier on Saturday, President Dr Lobsang Sangay of the Central Tibetan Administration expressed his profound condolences at the demise, saying, “I have been an admirer of his courage since my youth days. It was an honour meeting him in person and I also took part in the launch of his autobiography in Dharamshala. We have lost a true patriot of Tibet.”
As a mark of respect, CTA closed its offices for the day.
