
Dharamshala: On 3 September 2025, the Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India (CGTC-I), organised a brief Press Conference titled “India- Tibet- China Relations: an Insight” at the Dhauladhar Hotel’s Auditorium in Lower Dharamshala. The event aimed to shed light on the historical and contemporary dynamics of the trilateral relationship, with a strong focus on Tibet’s continued struggle for independence.
The Press Conference was chaired by Shri R K Khrimey, National Convener of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause, where he addressed to the press meeting, reflecting on first ‘Tibet Convention’ being held at Kolkata in 1959 under the noble guidance of Loknayak, Jayprakash Narayan, where different political parties of India came together to support for Tibet’s Independence cause.
He emphasised the deep historical and cultural ties between India and Tibet, pointing to sacred sites like Mount Kailash, which is revered in both traditions. He also underscored the illegality of PLA’s annexation of Tibet in 1959 and the ongoing repression faced by the Tibetan people under the CPC rule. He shared about their hope in resuming Sino-Tibet dialogue which was last occurred in 2010 while expressing concerns over the long pause in dialogue. He reiterated the Core Group’s commitment to reviving this dialogue through strategic advocacy, awareness campaigns, and coordination efforts across India.
In a show of solidarity, he also reaffirmed the Core Group’s unwavering support for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, particularly in light of His Holiness’ recent remarks regarding the continuation of the institution of the Dalai Lama.
Concluding his address, Shri Khrimey expressed hope that the tide of global politics is shifting in favor of justice and truth. “Given the changing nature of global geopolitics, the time will come when China will have to reconcile with the legitimate rights of the Tibetan people,” he concluded
