Dharamshala: Lhaduk, the Tibetan Circuit Justice Commissioner, was officially sworn in as the new Secretary of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission (TSJC) earlier this morning at Songtsen Hall in Gangchen Kyishong.
The oath of office was administered by Tibetan Justice Commissioner Dawa Phunkyi during the ceremony, which was attended by fellow Tibetan Justice Commissioner Phagpa Tsering and staff members of the TSJC.
The ceremony began with a traditional offering of a Mandala and ceremonial scarves to the centrally placed portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, first by the two Tibetan Justice Commissioners, then by the incoming TSJC Secretary.
Following that, the two Tibetan Justice Commissioners presented ceremonial scarves to Secretary Lhaduk as a gesture of congratulations on his appointment.
Brief Bio: Lhaduk was born on 4 May 1982 in Tsongon Palung (Ch: Hualong in Qinghai), to Tamdin and Lhamo Tso. He completed his secondary education in both Tibetan and Chinese up to class 9 at his local school. In 1998, he escaped into exile and continued his studies at the Tibetan Children’s Village School in Suja. He later joined the Tibetan Children’s Village School in Gopalpur to pursue his senior secondary education.
After completing his senior secondary education, Lhaduk earned his LLB from JSS Law College in Mysore, after completing a five-year course. During this time, he also served as the president of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress.
On 22 July 2013, Lhaduk joined the Central Tibetan Administration as a Section Officer at the TSJC. Through examination, he raised to the position of Joint Secretary within a few months and was subsequently appointed as the Local Tibetan Justice Commissioner for the Eastern Region, which was later merged into the Northern Tibetan Justice Commission.
From 15 December 2015 to 28 August 2020, he served as the Local Tibetan Justice Commissioner for the Northern Region, before being promoted to Additional Secretary. On 28 August 2020, he was sworn in as the Tibetan Circuit Justice Commissioner.
On 1 May 2025, he was promoted to the position of Secretary and was officially sworn in on 5 May 2025.
