Dharamshala: A brief handover ceremony was held at the Department of Religion and Culture today between the department’s new Secretary Chime Tseyang and outgoing Secretary Tsegyal Chukya Dranyi. Secretary Chime Tseyang will formally take charge of the Department of Religion and Culture from 1 September 2021.
Karma Choeying, Secretary of Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) officiated as the official witness at the handover ceremony.
Outgoing Secretary Tsegyal Dranyi congratulated the newly appointed Secretary and official documents were exchanged between the new and outgoing Secretary including the passage of department’s official seal.
A brief ceremony was hosted later at the Department to welcome the new Secretary.
Secretary Chime Tseyang who previously served as the Information Secretary of DIIR has a long, dedicated service in the CTA spanning over two decades. On 17th August 2020, she was promoted to Secretary by the 15th Kashag and was appointed to DIIR as the Information Secretary. The 16th Kashag appointed her as the Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture with effect from 1 September 2021.
Brief Bio:
Secretary Chime Tseyang hails from the Chauntra Tibetan settlement. She completed her schooling at CST Paonta and Mussoorie. In 1995, she graduated from GCG Government College for Girls.
She began her service at the Central Tibetan Administration on 24 January 2000 as an Under Secretary at the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration. In 2004, she was promoted to Deputy Secretary and in 2010, she was promoted to the post of Joint Secretary in the same department. On 1 September 2016, she was promoted to Additional Secretary and on 1 October 2016, she joined the Department of Information and International Relations as the Additional Secretary of DIIR. On 1 September 2020, she was promoted and took charge as Information Secretary of DIIR.
From 1 September 2021, she will serve as the Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture.
