Dharamshala: Addressing the 114th weekly Covid Briefing of the Central Task Force Committee, Tenzin Wangdak from the Department of Health, CTA, updated the past seven day’s Covid status of the Tibetan community, reporting a single case from 272 tested Tibetans in India and Nepal.  

Tenzin further elucidated the latest vaccination record mentioning 250 partially vaccinated and 50,291 fully vaccinated Tibetans above 18 in India, while 7,089 in Nepal were completely inoculated. At the same time, 109 Tibetans below 18 in Nepal were vaccinated as well as 2,514 in India were fully jabbed, and 130 were partly vaxxed. Similarly, 8,192 and 662 Tibetans in India and Nepal respectively received booster shots. 

Until now, 9,154 Tibetans in India, Nepal and Bhutan were reportedly infected by the Coronavirus, from which 8,985 recovered and 168 died. 

Apart from the Covid report, Tenzin Wangdak apprised the Tibetans about the department’s Tibetan Torture Survivors’ Program, under which the political prisoners and others were provided with necessary aids for treatment. In addition, he also briefed about the Support for Differently Abled and Treatment and Support of Leprosy Patients schemes, funded by PRM, in which the department provides medication, monthly stipend and equipment to the needy individuals with certain stipulations mentioned on the department’s website. 

Promulgating 533 million reported cases worldwide thus far and the recent Covid surge in India’s Delhi and Maharashtra, Dr Jigmey Kalsang of Delek Hospital urged everyone to continue giving attention to the preventive measures before concluding the briefing.
