Tibetan Community in Canberra Organises a Voluntary Blood Donation Initiative to Commemorate the Year of Compassion Honouring His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday.
Canberra: On 28 May 2025, the Tibetan community in Canberra organised a voluntary blood donation camp at the local Australian Red Cross as part of the commemoration programme of the Year of Compassion, marked in honour of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday.
Yeshi Choedon, President of the local Tibetan community, said, “We thank all the donors who have kindly volunteered to donate a precious part of their body for the benefit of others in need. Each blood donation can save many lives and can help treat serious patients. They have truly put compassion into action.”
She further said that it was also a special way to foster deeper friendship with the Australian Red Cross in Canberra, who have very kindly let the community’s Tibetan Weekend School hold their classes on its premises.
The event saw significant participation from local Tibetan community members as it was their first initiative for the Year of Compassion.
