
New Delhi: On 2 September 2024, the Core Group for the Tibetan Cause – India (CGTC-I) meeting was held in the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi. The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Tashi Dekyi, acting coordinator of the India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) and the introduction of two new ITCO staff. The Meeting was chaired by Shri R.K. Khrimey ji, National Convenor, CGTC-I, starting with a 2-minute silence for the Condolence of Professor Ramesh Tiwari ji, a long-standing friend of Tibet. It was followed by a keynote address and a wish for a quick recovery and complete healing of His Holiness the Dalai Lama post his knee surgery and a wish for his long life. The Meeting facilitated by India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) – Tashi Dekyi, Acting Coordinator, Migmar Tsamchoe, Accountant, and Ngawang Choden, Program Officer was Chaired by Core Group National Convenor – Shri R.K. Khrimey ji, and attended by Core Group National Co-Convenors – Shri Surendra Kumar ji and Shri Arvind Nikose ji, Core Group Regional Convenors – Dr Sanjay Shukla ji, Shri Sourabh Sarasvat ji, Shri Sudhesh Kumar Chandra Vanshi ji, Shri Sandesh Meshram ji, Dr Amit Jyotikar ji, Shri J.P. Urs Karwataka ji, and Shri Pudu Vai Adhavan ji.
Followed by the introduction of Core Group Members, decisions taken involved;
- Celebrating His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday on July 6, 2025, and a year of Karuna/Compassion
- A discussion of Core Group members with the Members of Parliaments (MPs)
including the Convenor and Co-convenor of All-Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for
Tibet (APIPFT) in December during the Winter Parliamentary Session. - Coordinating with regional-level Journalists and spreading Tibet awareness
- Meeting with Consultative Committee, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)
The Meeting also saw updates on Regional activities and programs held after the commencement of 7 the All India Tibet Support Group Conference to date. Additionally, the meeting also called for regional strategic actions, including;
- Continuation of the “Day for Tibet” program
- To pursue with the State government for the Allocation of facilities (Land) for a Tibetan clinic (MentseeKhang) in Lucknow
- To hold Workshop sessions on Tibetan Culture and Tibetan Movement
The Meeting concluded with a Thank you note by Ngawang Choden, Program Officer, ITCO.
