Zanskar, Ladakh: Artists from the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) led by its Director Dhondup Tsering participated in the 9th edition of Ladakh Zanskar Festival held at the famous Sani Lake on 13 and 14 September 2024, where Guru Rinpoche was said to have meditated in the eighth century.
On the first day of the celebration, the TIPA artists showcased folk dances to a gathering of several thousand people, including the honourable L.G. Dr. B. D. Mishra, UT Ladakh, Dr. Mohammad Jafar Akkhun, the Chief Executive Councillor, the LADDC, Kargil, and other prominent guests from LAHDC, as well as local people and visitors from abroad.
The TIPA Director presented the distinguished guests with traditional scarves and souvenirs during the festival.
The Ladakh Zanskar Festival was an excellent occasion for the rural and nomadic communities of Ladakh to showcase their products. The event also offers opportunities for the local and invitee artists to display their skills. This initiative to bring artistes at the festival not only entertained the audience, but gave opportunities to explore other cultures and build closer ties between the artistic fraternities.
