Dharamshala: Kalon Dolma Gyari of the Department of Security, Central Tibetan Administration, met with representatives from the Active Nonviolence Education Center (ANEC), including Administrative Officer Tsering Sonam and Finance Officer Pema Lhamo.
During the visit, the ANEC team presented the Kalon with Dekyi (བདེ་སྐྱིད་), an illustrated storybook portraying the life of a young girl from a nomadic family. The book sheds light on the hardships faced by thousands of Tibetan children placed in the PRC’s state-run, colonial-style boarding schools, as well as the emotional pain endured by their parents under assimilation-driven policies targeting Tibetan youth.
Kalon Dolma Gyari commended the ANEC representatives for their efforts to raise awareness about the PRC’s state-run boarding school system.
Founded in 2007 by the late Rabbi Everett Gendler, Mary Gendler, and the late Tenpa Samkar, ANEC continues to promote the principles of nonviolence. Its current Executive Director is Tenzin Choezin, who also serves as a Member of the 17th Tibetan Parliament in Exile.
