DHARAMSHALA: Mr Karma Yeshi, Kalon of Department of Finance, visited the group of young Tibetans currently undergoing training for the Tibetan Financial Service Company at the Tibetan Reception Center on December 29, 2016. He greeted the trainees individually and elaborated on the importance of the training, which is a first of a kind exclusively for finance, auditing and management graduates. Upon completion of the training, 6 to 7 trainees will be selected to serve in the soon to be established Tibetan Financial Service Company in Dharamsala.
Kalon Karma Yeshi briefed the trainees on the history of Department of Finance and SARD. He explained that the project to establish a financial service company within CTA had been in plans of the previous Kashag and was now close to being implemented. He also stated that this step represented a powerful demonstration of the current Kashag’s commitment to one of its three core principles of achieving self-reliance. Kungo Kalon advised the trainees to take advantage of this wonderful training opportunity and encouraged the trainees to serve the CTA. He cited the example of three vessels where the first is an overturned vessel, which cannot hold a single drop of water regardless of how much water is poured on it. The second vessel is one that has a hole at the bottom where water enters, but nothing is retained. The third vessel is physically intact, but it has a bad smell so the water stored cannot be consumed and is useless. Kungo Kalon advised the trainees to not become like one of the three vessels and that they should absorb as much of the learning and knowledge to help themselves and the community in the future.
Kungo Kalon also had a brief conversation with Mr. J.K. Rajput (Zonal head of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance, Delhi – IIBF) and Mr. S.K Sharma (faculty member of IIBF) who are both serving as instructors at the training program. Kalon also observed and participated in the morning training session on risk and risk management conducted by Mr. S. K. Sharma.
