
BODH GAYA: Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay arrived at Bodh Gaya yesterday to review the ongoing preparatory work for the upcoming Kalachakra in Bodh Gaya. The Kalachakra is scheduled to be held from 3 – 14 January 2017.
Sikyong was received at the airport by members of the Kalachakra organising committee, monks of Namgyal Monastery and Mr Namsay Dorjee, Secretary of Mahabodhi society and retired IAS officer.
Upon arrival, Sikyong first visited the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama during the Kalachakra to inspect the facilities and shortcomings if any. Sikyong then visited the Kalachkara teaching ground to check the progress of preparation and interacted with the ground staff to discuss the preparatory work. He also inspected the public toilets and kitchens to ascertain their working conditions so that the public doesn’t face any unnecessary difficulties during the teachings.
Sikyong met the District Magistrate (DM) and local SSP of Gaya city over dinner and sought their assistance during the teachings to make the pilgrims feel at ease and comfortable. Sikyong further visited the tent grounds where the Tibetan Reception Center is located to house the newly arrived Tibetans from Tibet.
