Kalon Tripa to Attend International Conference on Buddhism Tuesday, 3 March 2009, 2:19 p.m.
Dharamshala: At the invitation of the Foundation of SAARC Writers and Literature (FOSWAL), Kalon Tripa Prof Samdhong Rinpoche will attend the inaugural session of the international seminar on Buddhism as peacemaker in post modern SAARC in New Delhi.FOSWAL was established in 1987 to create emotional, intellectual and cultural affinities in the SAARC region. It is an apex body of SAARC, the only organisation in eight SAARC countries : India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Afghanistan, legally authorised to organise literature-related and cultural programmes under the SAARC banner.The two-day conference will be held at the India International Centre from 4 -5 March.Kalon Tripa will deliver a keynote address on “Buddhism as a Peacemaker”.During the course of the seminar, a galaxy of resource persons will speak on engaged Buddhism and Buddhist economy, Buddhist arts and architecture, Buddhist values, globalisation and Buddhism etc.Kalon Tripa will be back in his office on 5 March.
