MUSSOORIE: Mr Karma Chungdak, former Director of Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society (STSS), formally took charge as General Secretary of Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF) schools from outgoing General Secretary Mr Dhondup Dorjee. The handing over ceremony was held on Saturday,12 November 2016.
Mr Karma Chungdak is an alumnus of Central School for Tibetans, Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh. He studied in Tibetan Children’s Village School, Patlikul, Himachal Pradesh till primary level (Grade – V) and continued his inter and senior secondary school from CST, Dalhousie. He graduated from CST Dalhousie in the year 1981 and pursued his higher studies from Punjab University, Chandigarh in the field of professional education (B.A. B.Ed. M.A. M.Ed.) from 1981 to 1987.
After completing his higher studies in 1987, Mr Karma Chungdak started his career as a teacher and served in different Tibetan Schools for ten years. On 4 April 1997, he was appointed as Education Officer cum Deputy Secretary of Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.
Mr Karma Chungdak was appointed the head of the Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society (STSS) on 16 June 1999 when the new school society was formally established. Since then, he has been serving the society effectively till his appointment as the 15th General Secretary of Tibetan Homes Foundation.
The school expressed their gratitude to outgoing General Secretary Mr Dhondup Dorjee and welcomed the new General Secretary. “We thank former Ku-ngoe Dhondup Dorjee for his short though effective tenure as 14th General Secretary of our foundation. We wish him all the best,” the school said in an official letter.
