
DHARAMSHALA: His Holiness the Dalai Lama met with Indian dignitaries along with the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile at his residence at Tsuglagkhang on 2 September 2016.
The guests including Chief Guest Shri Mukut Mithi, former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh and serving member of Rajya Sabha; Special Guest Dr Arun Kumar, member of Lok Sabha along with Mrs Nirmala Kumari; and Shri KD Singh, former adviser to Shri Mukut Mithi; were in town on the blissful occasion of the 56th anniversary of the Tibetan Democracy Day.
Speaking about the historic relationship that Tibet and India share culturally and spiritually, His Holiness said, “India is our guru (teacher) and we are your chela (disciples). Every time the disciples face trouble, the guru have come up with unwavering support”. His Holiness conveyed profound gratitude to the Indian Government and its people for providing asylum to Tibetans over the last 57 years and further urged for continued support for Tibet’s cause.
