DHARAMSHALA: Gyalwang Karmapa Rinpoche and Home Kalon Gyari Dolma, yesterday graced a programme ‘Bodd Dharma-Vishwa Shanti and Himalaya Per Barhte Khatre’ organised by Himalaya Pariwar, a joint Indo-Tibetan organisation at the Zilla Parishad hall, Dharamshala.

Gyalwang Karmapa Rinpoche was the chief guest while Kalon Gyari Dolma was invited as the special guest for the programme.
Speaking at the programme, Gyalwang Karmapa Rinpoche said the Himalayan region is one of the biggest cultural source of India.
And since Tibet is also located in the Himalayan ranges, Tibetans and the people of Himalayan regions share a lot of similar traditions, he noted.
He further said the Tibetans and the people of Himalayan regions especially Himachal Pradesh should set aside the differences and teach the future generation about the various similar traditions and historical ties that we share.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Himachal Pradesh government for safeguarding Tibet’s culture and religion and providing a home away from home for the numerous Tibetans settled across the state Including His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Kalon Gyari Dolma, in her speech, stated that the safety of the Himalayas lies with the safety of Tibet.
She said unless the Tibetan issue is resolved, the natural environment of the Himalayas will always be endangered.
She also talked about the importance of ancient Buddhist values in promoting world peace.
More than 200 people attended the programme including noted social worker Indresh, Prof. Arun Diwakar Vajpayee, Vice-Chancellor of HP university and Tejwant Negi, MLA, Kinnaur.
