DHARAMSHALA: Kalon Dicki Chhoyang of the Department of Information and International Relations yesterday underlined the role of Tibetan youth in bolstering Indo-Tibetan relationship. She was addressing Tibetan students participating in the ongoing leadership workshop at Lower TCV school.
DIIR Kalon emphasised the importance of Indo-Tibetan relationship in the Tibetan movement and said: “Tibet shares an exclusive and robust rapport with India since ancient times. It is now the responsibility of the Tibetan youth to preserve and carry forward this historical bond for the sustenance of the Tibetan struggle.”
She expressed gratitude to India and its people for hosting His Holiness the Dalai Lama and providing continued support to the Tibetan people. She said: “International support for the just cause of Tibet is widespread. However, no country has done more for the Tibetan people than India. It provided refuge to the Tibetan people and the Central Tibetan Administration. It has also been a gracious host to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.”
She also explained the programs initiated by the Central Tibetan Administration to reaffirm its relations with India and the Indian public. However, she added that it’s the Tibetan youth who have the bigger responsibility. “The CTA works to enhance the shared bond with the state and central government of India where as Tibetan settlements initiate programs to foster better relations with the general Indian populace. The India-Tibet Coordination Office under DIIR reaches out to the Indian youth in the cities,” she informed, urging the students to engage more with Indian college students.
At the same time, she expressed pride at the increasing support the Central Tibetan Administration has been able to generate for the Tibet issue on the International stage despite China’s growing economic clout. She claimed that the growing support is due to the tireless efforts of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the mutually beneficial Middle Way Approach of the Central Tibetan Administration to resolve the Tibet issue.
The talk was followed by a question/answer session.
