His Holiness the Dalai Lama administers the oath of office to Mr Penpa Tsering as the newspeaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, at a ceremony held at His Holiness’s residence in Dharamshala, India, on 16 December 2008.

Dharamshala: Mr Penpa Tsering, a member of Tibetan Parliament from Domey Province, took oath of office today as new speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile.

He was sworn in by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at a ceremony held at His Holiness’s residence.The chief justice commissioner, justice commissioners, deputy speaker of the Tibetan Parliament and members of the Kashag attended the swearing-in ceremony.Mr Penpa Tsering took over from the former Parliament Speaker, Mr Karma Chophel, whose term ended on 30 November 2008.
