Dharamsala, February 10, 2012 – The Kashag was most honored to participate in His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s felicitation of Archbishop Desmond Tutu this morning at the Tsuklagkhang. Archbishop Tutu has been a long-time friend of the Tibetan people and a truth teller on Tibet and many other regions in the world experiencing repression and injustice. The Kashag thanks the Archbishop for visiting Dharamsala, letting us celebrate his 80th birthday, and supporting Tibet and the Tibetan people.

The Kashag also expresses its deepest gratitude to all those who participated in the successful worldwide February 8 vigils and to various governments, parliaments and world leaders for passing resolutions in support of Tibet and the Tibetan people. The worldwide vigil and prayers for those who have died, been hurt or imprisoned in Tibet were conducted peacefully and with dignity.
The news coming out of Tibet continues to be sad and alarming with reports of more Tibetans committing self-immolations since February 8. We ask for your continued support and request that all solidarity events be conducted peacefully and with dignity.
Thank you again! Your support is deeply appreciated.
