DEHRADUN: Festivities of celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s special 80th birth anniversary continued in Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement on the 7th of July. Receiving of His Holiness’s portrait into the community hall marked the inaugural of the morning ceremony. A majestic cake for His Holiness’s special 80th birth anniversary enthralled the people of Dekyiling. People enjoyed watching the songs and dance performances prepared by Sambhota Tibetan School. Sweet rice or Dresil and cake were served to everyone to celebrate the joyous occasion. The morning ceremony concluded with scarf offering ceremony by the general public.

Festivities lasted all day long. Lunch was served to everyone at the community park followed by a magnificent cultural show. Songs and dance performances originating from diverse regions of Tibet exalted the occasion and elated the audience with mirth.

People amused themselves with games like tug of war and tambola. The entire Dekyiling community gathered at the park and partook in this joyous occasion.

The finale to the three-day mega celebration of His Holiness’s the Dalai Lama’s special 80th birth anniversary was marked by a splendid cultural show put together by the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Regional Tibetan Women’s Association and the different groups of Dekyiling Settlement.

With this the mega celebration came to an end. Tibetans all around the city of Dehradun were filled with gratification for a grand and triumphant celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s special 80th birth anniversary. We fervently pray for His Holiness’s long and healthy life and to all our fellow Tibetans and friends of Tibet, we hope you continue to believe and uphold the values of peace and compassion and follow His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the path of non-violence.
