
TOKYO, Japan: The 80th birthday celebration of His Holiness the great 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet was held at hotel Okura- one of the most famous and elegant hotel in Tokyo city, Japan- on 4 July 2015. The venue was same, so does the day and time, but the vibes and environment of the celebration was different. It was celebrated with much fanfare amidst many Japanese dignitaries, Tibet supporters and Tibetans who have joined the celebration to show their gratitude for His Holiness and His message of peace, love and compassion for entire humanity.
As guest started to arrive around 5.30 pm, the celebration kicked off at 6 pm sharp with long life prayer and Mendel offering to His Holiness portrait. Soon after, Representative Lungtok la welcomed and thanked them for making their presence on this important day. Throughout the world, His Holiness 80th birthday is being celebrated, but the best birthday gift to His Holiness – as His Holiness has said – is to live on His advice and expectations, Representative Lungtok La said. He thanked them for unconditional love and support to His Holiness and Tibetan people, and expressed his expectation to receive the same in future.
Other guest speakers were Yoshida Shoyuu from Supaa Sanga, Makino Sensei- former member of parliamentarian & long term Tibet friend, and Watanabe Sensei-an anthropologist Tibet friend. All of them have showered praise on His Holiness message of love, peace and compassion. Expressed support and solidarity with non-violent struggle of Tibet cause and end their speech with prayers for His Holiness Long life.
Japanese version of Central Tibetan Administration’s birthday video to His Holiness, and video of brief history on His Holiness- specially made for the occasion- by Liaison office of His Holiness, Tokyo, Japan were screened for much delight of the people gathered.
With a toss by Okamoto Eishi – an abbot of Gokokji Temple, drinks and foods were served. Guest enjoyed the cultural show by Tibetans, Japanese and Mongolian.
Tibetan community in Japan has performed a long life prayer congregation for His Holiness at noon in Gokokji Temple.
