
NEW DELHI: Home Kalon Dolma Gyari la and Tibetan representatives attended a meeting convened by Ministry of Home, Government of India under the chairmanship of Joint Secretary, Shri Dilip Kumar at New Delhi on 24 June. The agenda of the meeting was: Scheme of strengthening of Changthang settlements located in Ladakh, J&K. The meeting was attended by the District Commissioner of Ladakh, Shri Swaghat Biswas; Mr.Tsering Wangchuk, Chief Planning officer; Shri S. K. Parida, MHA Under Secretary; Senior Technicians and the Tibetan delegations.
The meeting was a follow up discussion about the rehabilitation of Local and Tibetan nomads in Changthang area in Ladakh. Concrete housing and other infrastuctures build ups and implementation of the projects were discussed in detail. The scheme was first initiated by MHA at the request of Central Tibetan Relief Committee (CTRC) and later covered the whole nomads in the Changthang area.
After the Changthang rehabilitation meeting, Joint Secretary Shri Dilip Kumar released the book “Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy 2014” which was issued by Ministry of Home in November last year. This was published in a book form with Tibetan translation for wider circulation and easy reference. The Rehabilitation policy contains the Central government’s policy guidelines pertainting to the rehabilitation of the Tibetans and their welfare in India.
Tibetan representives include: Representative Kasur Tempa Tsering and Secretary Tsewang Gyalpo Arya of Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi; Mr. Palden Dhondup, Add. Secretary of Home Department; Mr. Dhondup Tashi, Chief Representative of Ladakh, and Mr. Tenzin Losel, PA to Kalon.
