Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay, today, inaugurated a branch of Canara bank at Gangkyi.

Speaking at the inauguration, he thanked Mr Bikas Adhikari, Deputy General Manager, Chandigarh Circle, for inviting him as the chief guest and welcomed the new branch manager, Mr Urgyan Norbu to Gangkyi.

He said he hoped the bank will live up to its obligations and serve the Tibetan clients better, and added that he was looking forward to a productive relationship with the bank.

He said the previous Kashag had allocated this location to Canara Bank after a lot of deliberation since it was a prime location in Gangkyi.

Mr Bikas Adhikari, in his welcome note, thanked the Kalon Tripa for obliging to inaugurate the new branch of the Canara bank and the Central Tibetan Administration for providing such a beautiful location.

He urged the Tibetans to take advantage of the bank’s various schemes like education loans and  assured that the bank would work to the best of its ability to serve its clients, hoping that the Tibetans would be active members of the bank.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Kalons and Secretaries of the various Departments of the Central Tibetan Administration as well as by the Justice Commissioners of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission and by the Chairman of the Central Tibetan Election Commission.
