Dharamshala: The Central Tibetan Administration has expressed deep sadness over the demise of Mrs Tashi, a deputy secretary, who served in the administration for the last 22 years.
Mrs Tashi passed away after a prolonged illness in Brussels on 27 August 2011 at 12:10 pm (local time).
As a gesture of respect, the administration observed an hour-long prayer service this afternoon, following which all the offices remained closed.
Mrs Tashi was born in the Tibetan settlement in Shimla in northern India. She was an alumnus of Central School for Tibetans, Mussoorie. She joined the Central Tibetan Administration in 1989 as an accountant on probation. She served as the accountant of Gangkyi staff mess in 1991. In 1992, she was promoted and transferred to Finance Department as an office assistant. From 1994 to 1996, she served in the capacity of the Office Superintendent in Home Department. She was promoted to section head and under secretary in the same department in 1996 and 1999 respectively. In 2002, she was promoted to the post of deputy secretary and transferred to the Reception Centre in Dharamsala as an accountant. She was transferred to Home Department in 2004. In 2008, she was posted as an accountant at the Office of Tibet, Brussels.
Mrs Tashi is survived by her husband and children.
