DHARAMSHALA: The Department of Home of the Central Tibetan Administration announced new guidelines for financing agricultural loan to make Tibetan settlements sustainable, promote co-operative farming and self-reliance. The guideline was approved by the 14th Kashag on 28 February.
In a circular issued on 28 March, the home department said the agricultural loan aims to encourage Tibetans to use the land given on lease by the Indian government for self-cultivation and not leave the land unused. Moreover in view of the reducing numbers of Tibet practicing farming, group of farmers or farmers self-help group will be provided low interest loan of 5 lakh INR to finance 9 tractors under the sponsorship of the Charitable Foundation (TCF), Australia.
The circular was issued to 12 main agricultural based settlements and Tuting, Ravangla Kunphenling, Hebertpur Doeguyougyaling, Poanta Cholsum, Puruwala Sakya Settlement and Solan Bhonpo Settlement.
The last date for filing the application and proposal is 25 April 2014.
