
BRUSSELS: The Tibetan community in Belgium commemorated the Tibetan National Uprising Day on 10 March. The official function was held at the Schuman Circle in front of the European Commission in Brussels. The Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama read out the message of Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay on the occasion. A representative deputed by Mr. Thomas Mann, the president of the Tibet Intergroup in the European Parliament, read out message sent by Mr Mann for the occasion. Besides, the International Campaign for Tibet’s Policy and Advocacy Officer Ms Elena Gaita and the President of Tibetan Community, the Presidents of Regional Tibetan Youth Congress and Dokham Chushi Gangdruk Association spoke during the function. Mr Tenzin Yarphel of Tulku Tenzin Delek Rinpoche Welfare Service Association also spoke on the present situation of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche and he also launched a signature campaign to seek immediate release of Tulku Tenzin delek Rinpoche from the prison.
The procession began at 11.30 and meandered its way through the city center to the Chinese Embassy and it peacefully concluded at 3 in the afternoon.
Les Amis du Tibet, Belgium initiated a campaign to raise Tibetan flags in towns and municipalities in Belgium to express solidarity of Belgian People with the Tibetan cause during the 10 March uprising day. More than 56 towns and municipal authorities in Belgium raised Tibetan flags on the day to show their solidarity with the Tibetan people.
