
DHARAMSHALA: The Election Commission of Central Tibetan Administration today declared the result of the preliminary round of by-election of a member of parliament from Do-Mey constituency held on 17th February.
Out of 3965 registered voters from India and Nepal, 1235 voters cast their ballots. Temporary election commissions were formed in colleges to facilitate students to exercise their franchise, Chief Election Commissioner Jampel Choesang said at a press conference.
Tashi Dhondup, a native of Golog Sertaand resident of Nepal, begged maximum number of 347 votes. He was followed by Lukar Jam of Atsok and resident of Dharamshala with 194 votes, Tsayang Gyatso of Golog and resident of Dharamshala with 144 votes, Karma Gelek of Jhakhyung and resident of Bandara with 107 votes and Totsik Choedak of Ngaba and resident of Dharamshala with 71 votes, the election commissioner said.
The final round of election will be held on 9 June.
The by-election was necessitated by the resignation of Chithue Kirti Dolkar Lhamo.
