Kalimpong: Following the completion of his official visit to Tibetan settlements in Sikkim and parts of West Bengal, Home Kalon Palden Dhondup visited Kalimpong from 14 to 18 July 2026.

At around 9:00 a.m. on 15 July 2026, he visited Sambhota Tibetan School in Kalimpong, where he addressed the teachers, staff, and students. The Kalon then visited Sakya Tsechen Thrinley Dargye Ling Monastery School. In the afternoon, the Kalon addressed the local public at the community hall and responded to questions from attendees.

The Kalon also visited the local Settlement Office, the Local Tibetan Assembly Office, the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement Office, the Old Age Home, and the Men-Tsee-Khang branch to assess their activities and facilities.

On 16 July 2026, the Kalon visited Ugen Mindrol Samtenling Monastery, Kagyu Thekchen Choeling Monastery, and Gyutoe Monastery, where he met with members of the local Tibetan community.

On the morning of 17 July, Kalon Palden Dhondup departed Kalimpong for Salugara. Upon arrival, he visited the community hall, where he addressed local residents and members of the Tibetan community.

He subsequently paid pilgrimage visits to Bokar Shedra Obar Chumeyling Institute, Ewam Nunnery, and Sed-Gyued Monastery. At 3:00 p.m., after inspecting the infrastructure of the Salugara Community Hall and other facilities, the Kalon addressed the local public and answered their questions.

On the morning of 18 July, the Kalon visited the Salugara Men-Tsee-Khang branch, the incense factory, the Himalayan Buddhist Cultural School, and the Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute before departing for New Delhi via Bagdogra Airport.

On 19 July, at 5:50 a.m., the Kalon departed New Delhi by train for Dharamshala, arriving at Gangchen Kyishong at 3:30 p.m.

Throughout the tour, Kalon Palden Dhondup was accompanied by the Department’s Acting Secretary, Tsering Youdon, and Uma Thinley, Section Head of the Northeast Division.
