Odisha: As part of the celebrations marking the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the observance of the “Year of Compassion”, the Odisha Phuntsokling Ghoton Organising Committee conducted a blood donation campaign on 1 July 2026 at the Odisha Phuntsokling Local Assembly Office.
To facilitate the campaign, the organising committee requested support from the Red Cross Blood Bank in Berhampur, which deputed seven staff members to assist with the event.
The campaign drew the participation of 45 donors, comprising 37 men and eight women. Among them were 41 Tibetans, including monks and laypersons, along with four local residents. Each participant donated 350 ml of blood. Following the donation drive, the organising committee served refreshments, including mineral water, apples, bananas, and oranges, to all donors.
The programme concluded with the Red Cross Blood Bank presenting a certificate of appreciation to the organising committee in recognition of its efforts. The donated blood is expected to benefit patients requiring emergency medical treatment, surgical procedures, and those suffering from serious illnesses. The campaign reflected the values of compassion, kindness, and selfless service, in keeping with the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on love, peace, and responsibility towards others.
