
Australia: On 22 November 2025, Chief Election Commissioner Lobsang Yeshi commenced an official tour across Australia to raise awareness and provide guidance on the procedures for the 2025–26 Sikyong and 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile elections. The outreach aims to ensure the smooth and proper implementation of the upcoming elections for Tibetans residing in Australia.
Chief Election Commissioner Lobsang Yeshi was accompanied by the Secretary of the Tibetan Election Commission, Lobsang Choedak.
On 22 November, a joint meeting was convened at the office of Sydney Tibetan Association with the regional election officers and observers from Sydney, Blue Mountains, Newcastle, Central Coast, and Campbelltown.
At the beginning of the meeting, Representative and Regional Election Commissioner Karma Singey gave an opening speech, introducing the Chief Election Commissioner and Secretary of the Tibetan Election Commission. Following this, the Chief Election Commissioner explained the Election Commission’s guidelines for the 2025-2026 Sikyong and 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile election, along with the election code of conduct.
He emphasised the importance of the regional election officers and voters in ensuring fairness, equality, freedom, and secrecy in the election process. He also highlighted the key tasks, including the registration of voters, and announced that the preliminary election for Sikyong and the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile will be held on 1 February 2026. And the final election on 26 April 2026. He further provided detailed explanations on the penalties for interference and other aspects related to the election process, as per the Election Commission’s guidelines.
Similarly, highlighting the importance of the Tibetan community upholding their responsibilities—particularly the right and duty to vote to strengthen the Central Tibetan Administration and advance the Tibetan cause—the Chief Election Commissioner addressed the regional election officers, answered their questions, and provided further clarifications on the election rules and procedures.
That afternoon, Chief Election Commissioner Lobsang Yeshi addressed the Sydney Tibetan Association. At the beginning of the programme, Sydney Tibetan Association’s President, Tsewang Dorjee, delivered a welcome speech, followed by Australia’s Regional Election Commissioner Karma Singey, who gave a speech explaining the importance of voter registration and participation in the general election for the Tibetan community.
