
Sonamling, Ladakh: On 30 October 2025, the Sonamling Tibetan Settlement organised a “Thank You Event” to express heartfelt appreciation to the 6th Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, for successful completion of its five-year tenure.
The event was graced by Tashi Gyalson, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Tsering Angchuk, Deputy Chairman; Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Stanzin Chosphel, and Ghulam Mehdi, Executive Councillors; Skarma Namdak, Councillor of Korzok; Tsewang Gyalson, Chief Planning Officer; Dorjee, Superintendent Engineer of the Public Works Department; and Sangpo, Executive Engineer.
The programme formally inaugurated the newly constructed LTA Hall, the Community Hall at Camp No. 09, and the Ngari Community Hall, Mosque, and Chushul Chain Wall Boundary.
The foundation stones were laid for the construction of new Community Halls at Camp No. 02 and Camp No. 04, as well as for the Rutok Gonpa Kitchen and Bon Gonpa Library Hall. Among the recently completed projects were the internal blacktop roads at Agling Camps and the Old Age Home, while the development of the TCV School Ground remains an ongoing project.
Tashi Dhondup, Chief Representative Officer (CRO), extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamshala, and the Sonamling Tibetan community. He expressed deep gratitude to the LAHDC for its consistent assistance in community development, including the provision of blacktopped internal roads, JJM drinking water facilities, and various welfare schemes aimed at the upliftment of underprivileged members of the settlement.
As a token of appreciation, Pema Sangpo, Local Justice Commissioner; Dhondup Tsering, Speaker of the Local Tibetan Assembly; Tashi Dhondup, Chief Representative Officer, and Lobsang Nyandak, Deputy Speaker of the Local Tibetan Assembly, presented framed photographs of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and a copy of His Holiness’s acknowledgment letter dated 25 August 2025 to Tashi Gyalson, the Executive Councillors, and District Officers.
In his address, Chief Guest Tashi Gyalson assured the gathering of his continued support for the welfare of the Tibetan people and reiterated his commitment to advancing development in line with the vision and values of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dhondup Tsering, Speaker of the Local Tibetan Assembly and concluded with a community lunch hosted in honour of the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests.
